Happy New Year, Durbanville! Welcome to the first edition of 2026. We hope your festive season was filled with good food, better wine and quality time with the people who matter most. As we kick off a brand-new year, the Durbanville Hub is committed to being your go-to guide for everything that makes our corner of the northern suburbs so special. Here’s to a year of local discoveries, community growth and plenty of valley sunsets!

🛍️1. The New Year’s Market Refresh

After the festive rush, this weekend is about a slower pace. The Willowbridge Slow Market is back this Saturday with a focus on "Healthy Start" local produce. It’s the perfect spot to restock the pantry with fresh Durbanville-grown greens and artisanal breads after the holiday indulgence.

Looking for a culture fix right in the heart of town? Rust-en-Vrede on Wellington Road is a stunning historic site housing contemporary art and a unique clay museum. Their gardens are in full summer bloom, and the Yoco Eatery on-site is arguably the most peaceful spot in town for a morning coffee.

  • Top Tip: The ceramics in the "Cuaba" room are world-class.

🍷 3. Summer Sip: Nitida’s "Wild Child" Sauvignon Blanc

Start the year with a wine that captures our terroir perfectly. Nitida Estate’s "Wild Child" is fermented with wild yeast, giving it a complex, creamy texture. Enjoy a glass on the deck at Cassia Restaurant paired with their summer peach and feta salad for the ultimate seasonal lunch.

🌅 4. Sunday Sunset: Chill Vibes at Meerendal

End the first weekend of 2026 with an iconic view. Meerendal Wine Estate offers vast lawns perfect for a late Sunday afternoon. Grab a pizza from Bossa and enjoy the live acoustic music usually starting around 15:00.

  • Pro Tip: It’s dog-friendly, so bring your pups for a dam walk before you settle in.
