Good morning, Durbanville!
What a week! If youāve been out and about, youāve likely seen both sides of the coin. Last weekend gave us that mesmerizing, relentless raināthere is nothing quite like watching the grey clouds roll over the vineyards while you're tucked away indoors. It was beautiful, but it definitely brought the "Durbanville drainage test" along with it, with a few spots seeing some local flooding that wasn't quite as picturesque.
Thankfully, the sun returned in full force yesterday and today, turning the valley into a postcard again. The dams are looking healthier, the gardens are drinking it in, and the crisp autumn air feels absolutely perfect.
Here is your 7550 briefing for the weekend of 24ā26 April 2026.
ā ļø Quick Note: Secret Sunrise

2. šļø The Saturday Market Showdown
Youāve got a tough choice this Saturday (25 April) from 10:00 to 15:00. Will it be fashion or fur?
Option A: Love Thrifting (Hillcrest Wine Estate): If you're hunting for pre-loved fashion treasures, head up to Hillcrest. It's the launch of their monthly thrift marketāthe perfect place to find unique pieces in a beautiful vineyard setting.
Option B: Kenridge Bark Park Market Day (Kenridge): If you're a pet lover, head to the Kenridge Bark Park (opposite the BP). Expect doggy froyo, pet supplies, live music, and a full food court. Dogs on leads are welcome!
3. šŗ Weekend Active
Durbanville Parkrun (Saturday, 25 April): Hosted at Meerendal Wine Estate, it starts at 08:00 sharp. Traffic warning: Aim to pass the Clara Anna Fontein circle by 07:30 to ensure you get a parking spot!
4. The 7550 News Digest
š City Nature Challenge: From Friday, 24 April to Monday, 27 April, the City of Cape Town is participating in the global "City Nature Challenge." Access to local reserves is freeābring the kids and use the iNaturalist app to document the local flora and fauna.
š· Unfiltered Thursdaze: If you're looking for a post-work ritual, Durbanville Hills has officially kicked off "Unfiltered Thursdaze." Itās an after-hours spot to experience wine, music and food in a relaxed, unpolished setting.
š§ Freedom Day Prep: With Freedom Day on Monday (27 April), remember that local services will operate on a "Public Holiday" schedule.
Coffee @ theDairyShed is the ultimate rustic escape on the outskirts of the valley. Itās a proper farm-style experienceāthink fresh air, open spaces, and excellent coffee. Itās the perfect destination for a Saturday morning cycle or a relaxed family drive away from the weekend shopping rush.
6. The Durbanville Food Poll
We are truly spoiled for choice in the 7550.
Wilde Vy Bistro is definitely my top pick right nowāwith Saltwater Grill holding a very close second spot.
But I want to know where you go when you want the perfect meal. Reply to this email and let me know your absolute favourite Durbanville restaurant and why! Iāll feature the "Reader's Choice" picks in next weekās issue.
Until next Friday, have a great week.
