It’s an action-packed long weekend in the 7550, so here is your definitive local guide to making the most of it.
1. Water Watch: The 47.2% Level
The official Western Cape Government update for 2 April 2026 shows Cape Town dam levels have hit 47.2%. This is a significant drop and a serious reminder to use water responsibly as we wait for the winter rains to arrive. With dam levels at 47.2%, we need to make our current reserves stretch as far as possible.
2. The Easter Weekend: What’s On
Demi-Lee Moore at Die Boer (Friday, 3 April): For those hoping for a last-minute plan, please note that her headline show for tonight is officially Sold Out. Die Boer will be closed this Saturday and Sunday.
Absolute 80s at Barnyard Tyger Valley: Catch the 80s tribute show for the Saturday Evening show (19:30) or the Easter Sunday Matinee (14:00). Tickets are R200. Note: They are closed on Good Friday and Family Day Monday.

Good Friday (3 April): Durbanville & Pinehurst: 08:45 & 10:30 | Fisantekraal: 10:00.
Easter Sunday (5 April): Durbanville: 08:45 & 10:30 | Pinehurst: 08:45, 10:30 & 18:00 | Fisantekraal: 10:00.
The Great Durbanville Hills Easter Trail: A self-guided adventure across the estate for the whole family. Kids hunt for stickers to earn a sweet treat, while adults enjoy a curated wine tasting at selected stops along the route.
Cost: R230 per person.
Note: Ticket purchases do not include table bookings; please book via webtickets to avoid disappointment. (A few tickets still available at time of writing)

The Galileo Open Air Cinema: Special Easter screenings this weekend.
Friday, 3 April: Rise of the Guardians at Central Park, Century City (19:30).
Saturday, 4 April: The Proposal at Lourensford Wine Estate, Somerset West (19:30).
Sunday, 5 April: Wonka at Kirstenbosch Gardens (19:30).
Vivaldi Gloria & Haydn Nelson Mass (Saturday, 4 April): A choral collaboration between Cape Town Opera and the CPO at the historic Toringkerk in Paarl. Starts at 15:00. Tickets are R295.
3. The 7550 Long Weekend Watchlist
♻️ Holiday Refuse Collection: The City will be collecting refuse and recycling as usual on both Good Friday (3 April) and Family Day (6 April). If your normal collection day falls on these holidays, please ensure your bins are out by 06:00.
🚚 Reminder: Same-Day Recycling: Remember that "Think Twice" recycling is now collected on the same day as your general refuse in Durbanville. This helps keep our streets clearer and reduces "double bin" clutter.
⚡ Post-Weekend Maintenance: Looking ahead, the City has scheduled critical electricity maintenance for several substations on Tuesday, 7 April. While Durbanville central isn't on the high-impact list yet, it’s worth keeping an eye on the City's supply maps if you’re planning a big catch-up day after the holiday.
